WILMINGTON, Del. - Wesley's Kevin Ellis had three hits, homered, stole three bases and scored four runs as the Wolverines pounded the City College of New York 13-0 in a non-conference game played at Frawley Stadium, home of the Class A Wilmington Blue Rocks.
Wesley's (26-14) Ryan Buckland, Colin Warner and Bryan Jennings combined on a one-hitter. Buckland notched his eight win of the season, striking out seven in seven innings of work. Warner struck out the side in the eighth and Jennings tossed a scoreless ninth.
The Beavers' Richard Gomez, who entered the among the national leaders with a .516 batting average, had the lone CCNY (3-31) base hit.
The Wolverine offense was firing on all cylinders all evening, scoring in six of their eight at bats.
In addition to Ellis, Geoff Kimmel, Matt Pizzolato and Stu Madden all had three hits as well. Pizzolato scored three runs.
Chris Hopstock took the loss. In five innings of work, the lefty allowed nine runs, eight of which were earned.
Wesley wraps up the regular season with a trip to Polytechnic on May 5.
