striking out six and freshman Albert DiDomenico was a homerun shy
of the cycle in the win.
The Griffins broke open a 2-1 game with three runs in the sixth
capped by Tim Hoban's two-run single.
Three more runs scored in the seventh on a pair of RBI doubles from
Mark Mattes and Tim McMenamin along with a run-scoring single off
the bat of Chris Corkery for a 8-1 lead.
It was more than enough for McNamara, who retired 15 of 17 batters
at one point.

(29-12).

error and a groundout while Alvernia (27-12) countered with a
two-run homerun off the bat of Zach Lutz.

in the third gave the Crusaders a 4-2 lead after three.
Corey Huemmer knotted the game in the fifth with a two-run two-out
double down the left field line off Alvernia starter Shane
Zellers.
Zellers got into trouble in the next inning after a leadoff double

relieve Zellers but not before an RBI off a sac fly from Kevin
Ellis gave Wesley a 5-4 lead.

Dover, DE - The Wesley College (26-11, 14-6 PAC)
baseball team defeated Eastern University (5-25, 4-16 PAC) both
games of a home doubleheader 5-2, and 2-1. The two victories tie
for the most wins in a season, a mark that was set in 1999. Wesley
will attempt to break that record when they travel to Eastern for a
make up game that was originally scheduled for Friday.
In the first game, Wesley earned two runs in the bottom of the
third to take the lead at 2-1. Dan Bunnion (Blackwood, NJ) scored
from third on a wild pitch to start the scoring. Later in the

fourth inning. Bunnion singled in Scott Marshall (Jackson, NJ) who
had walked earlier in the inning.
The Wolverines put the game away with a two run fifth when Corey
Huemmer (Abingdon, MD) doubled in Grant Morlock (Bel Air, MD) and
A.J. Jacobs (Wilmington, DE).
Wesley pitcher Ryan Buckland (Middletown, DE) worked 6 innings

Wesley Baseball Splits with Gwynedd-Mercy
Dover, DE - Wesley College (24-11, 12-6 PAC) split a
double header with Gwynedd-Mercy College (20-9, 12-6 PAC) losing
the first game in extra innings 4-3, then exploading for a 9-1
victory in the second game.
In the first game, Wesley trailed early as the Griffins scored runs
in the top of the 1st and 4th innings to take a 2-0 lead. Wesley
found some offense in the bottom of the 4th as Grant Morlock (Bel
Air, MD/ Fallston) crossed home plate thanks to a fielder's choice
by Corey Huemmer (Abingdon, MD/ Eastern Tech), which also advanced
Scott Marshall (Jackson, NJ/ Jackson Memorial) to third. Marshall
would later score on a Tyler Burns (Dover, DE/ Dover) SAC fly.
The Griffins produced another run in the top of the 5th and
threatened to score more if not for a great throw from right
fielder AJ Jacobs (Wilmington, DE/ McKean) to nail the runner at
home plate for the third out.
Wesley tied the score in the bottom of the 6th when Cody Pidgeon
(Barnegat, NJ/ Southern Reg.) singled in Marshall from third.
Gwynedd-Mercy scored in the first extra inning with help from a
failed pick off attempt allowing the runner to go from first to
third. He was later doubled in for the score.
Wesley was unable to produce in the bottom of the 8th, losing the
second game in a row in extra innings.
In the second game, Wesley found their much needed offense in a big
way tossing away the memory of two tough losses with a strong 9-1
victory.
Corey Huemmer hit a three run homer in the 1st inning to get the
Wesley scoring underway. Huemmer ended the game 3 for 3 with 5
RBI's.
