MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Josh Alley held Wesley College to just two runs over eight innings as the Wolverines fell to Eastern 7-2 at the Ripken Experience.
The Eagles loaded the bases in the second inning and scored on a hit by pitch and a walk before Scott Renauro singled in another run for a 3-0 lead. Eastern loaded the bases again in the third and scored on another hit batsman and a fielder's choice to stretch it to 5-0.
After the Eagles tacked on another run in the top of the fifth, Wesley got on the board in the bottom of the inning and again in the sixth. Kevin Murphy (Middletown, Md./Middletown) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth before Greg McKee (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) ripped an RBI triple the next inning to cut Eastern's lead to 6-2.
The Eagles scored a run on an error in the ninth to put the game out of reach.
Ryan Polk had three hits in the win, while Jim Crowley drove in three. Ramon Reyes and Andrew Reynolds had two hits apiece.
Stu Madden (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) collected three hits in the win, while Geoff Kimmel (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) added two for the Wolverines.
Six pitchers received work in the game for Wesley with starter Andrew Baczkowski (Wilmington, Del./Friends) taking the loss.
Wesley will be back in action on Wednesday, when they take on both Wilkes and Penn State Berks.
