Dover, Del. - Wesley (10-8-1, 1-3 CAC) was held to 1 run on 3 hits by Mary Washington pitcher John Miscioscia, while the Eagles (5-6, 1-6 CAC) offense rolled to a 12-1 victory over the Wolverines in CAC play at Reed Field.
Miscioscia pitched 7 solid innings for the Eagles, giving up only 3 hits and walking only 2 in the victory. His only mistake came in the seventh inning giving up a solo home run to Wesley's Grant Morlock (Bel Air, Md./Fallston).
Mary Washington score one run in the the first and third innings, then exploaded with a three run fourth. Eagle centerfielder, Alex Howell hit a three run homer off Wesley starting pitcher, Bobby Buttafogo (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) to make it 5-0 at the end of the fourth frame. Buttafogo (1-2) get the loss for the Wolverines.
The Eagles followed with a two run fifth inning off Wesley's relief pitcher Kyle McGuire (Hartly, Del./Polytech) to continue their offensive trend. McGuire settled down in the six pitching out of a jam. With runners on second and third, McGuire earned a strikeout and then forced the next two batters to ground out finishing the inning.
Mary Washington got the offense going again in the seventh plating another three run inning to stretch their lead to 10-0. Wesley subsequently got their only run of the game on Morlock's homerun in the bottom half of the frame.
The Eagles finished off the scoring with two runs in the top of the 9th for the 12-1 victory.
Wesley travels to Mary Washington on Saturday, March 14th for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
