Wesley Splits With Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Wesley College got complete games from D.J. Keckler (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Colin Warner (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) to pick up a split in a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader at Mary Washington.
The Wolverines gave Keckler eight runs of support in the opener, scoring three times in each the third and fourth innings. Trailing 1-0 in the third, Wesley scored one run on each an RBI double by Grant Morlock (Bel Air, Md./Fallston), an error and a passed ball to take a 3-1 lead.
The following inning, after a sacrifice fly by Stu Madden (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) brought home Bryan Reshetar (Newark, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech), Morlock drove in another run with a single to make it 5-1. The following batter, Geoff Kimmel (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) extended the lead with an RBI fielder's choice that scored Greg McKee (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney).
Wesley added two more runs in the fifth. Madden singled in Scott Marshall (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Reshetar scored his third run in an as many innings, scoring on a wild pitch.
The Eagles threatened in the sixth, scoring three times. Alex Howell drove in a run with a double and scored the final run of inning on a sacrifice fly by Jackson Clement.
Keckler settled down in the seventh, retiring the Eagles' two, three and four batters in order to end the game.
Reshetar reached base in all four of his plate appearances, walking three times to go along with a single. Madden, Morlock and Marshall had two hits apiece for the Wolverines - with Madden and Morlock each driving in two.
Will Wright and Clement had two hits apiece for Mary Washington.
Keckler scattered nine hits and walk while striking out three for his fourth win as a freshman.
Wesley roughed up Wes Hayden for eight runs, four earned, in five innings. Hayden allowed seven hit and walked four. Harrison Smith tossed two innings of hitless relief, but walked three more Wesley batters.
In the second game, Nick Espinosa singled in pinch runner Jeff Zeisler with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
The Wolverines had taken a 2-0 lead in the game on a two-run single by Marshall that plated Kevin Murphy (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and Kimmel in the fourth.
A single by Howell in the bottom half of the inning cut the lead in half and Wright singled home Eric Rehbein in the sixth to tie the game.
Warner allowed only three runs, two earned, on six hits and two walks. He struck out four.
John Miscioscia, however, allowed just four hits and a walk in 6.1 innings of work. Andrew Cox picked up the win, finishing the seventh by induciing a double play.
The loss snapped Wesley's six game winning streak.
The Wolverines are back in action on Wednesday, April 1 when York (Pa.) visits Bob Reed Field.
