DOVER, Del. - Wesley College hit three home runs - two by Tyler Burns (Dover, Del./Dover) - on the way to a 12-5 over Stevenson in Capital Athletic Conference action.
Burns finished the day 3-for-5 with five runs batted in.
The Wolvernes (8-7, 5-4 CAC) jumped ahead early, 2-0 on an RBI single by Bryan Reshetar (Newark, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) and a run scoring double off the bat of Burns. Wesley broke the game open in the second. The lead was 3-0 when Grant Morlock (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) clubbed his third home run of the year, a three-run shot and Reshetar drove in a run with another single before the inning was over for a 7-0 lead.
Stevenson (12-4, 6-4 CAC) fought back in the fourth with a two-run single by Jeff Bihy, who also scored in the inning as the Mustangs trimmed the lead to 7-3.
Burns' first homer of the day in the bottom half of the frame got all three runs back for Wesley as the Wolverines took a 10-3 lead.
Billy Crowe (Newark, Del./Salesianum), who had a RBI ground out in the first, hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth and Burns hit his second home run of the day in the seventh as the Wesley lead grew to nine, 12-3.
Brandon Krochune and Bihy each drove in runs in the eighth for Stevenson to cap the scoring.
Matt Faulkner (Milford, Del./Milford) scattered seven hits and three walks while striking out four in seven innings for his second win of the season.
Wesley's offense pounded out 13 hits and left just two runners on the basepaths all day. In addition to Burns' three-hit effort, Morlock, Kevin Murphy (Middletown, Md./Middletown), Reshetar and Steven Jacobs (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) each had two hits.
Bihy and Justin Anderson each had three hits for the Mustangs.
Krochune took the loss, allowing 10 runs in four innings, but struck out seven.
Wesley is back in action on March 23 against Gallaudet.
