DOVER, Del. - Wesley College had the winning run on base, but Britton Quayle locked down his second save of the day as Frostburg State held on for a 6-5 win in game two after a 2-0 victory in the opener.
In the nightcap, a two-run homer by Ryan Polk (Croydon, Pa./Truman) in the sixth and a two-run double by Jon Carlson (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) in the seventh pulled the Wolverines (15-13, 7-7 CAC) to within a run at 6-5. Polk came up again and worked the count to 3-1 before the Bobcats decided to intentionally walk him. But Quayle struck out the next batter to end the game.
Carlson's double was his fourth hit of the game. In addition to two RBIs, he also scored twice in the game.
Frostburg (16-8, 9-5 CAC) had scored five runs in the third to take control of the game, including a pair on a single by Garrett Price.
Jordan Lozzi (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) took his first loss of the year, allowing six runs, four earned in five innings. He struck out a pair and walked two.
Josh Davis notched the win, allowing three runs on nine hits and a walk in six innings of work.
John Barrett homered for the Bobcats among his two hits, drove in a pair and scored twice.
In the opener, Matt Ridenour outdueled DJ Keckler (Fallston, Md./Fallston) with Wesley falling 2-0.
Ridenour walked four and hit two batters, but was effectively wild as he also struck out five and allowed just two hits.
Keckler gave up two runs, only one earned, and struck out six in a complete game. He surrendered six hits and walked three.
Adam Summerfelt had an RBI single in the third and Doug Anuszewski and a run scoring hit in the fifth to account for the scoring.
Anuszewski led all players with three hits.
Wesley travels to York (Pa.) on April 5.
