CAPE COD, Mass. - Wesley College shortstop Rob Benedict (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) was named to the ECAC Division III South All-Star team as a first team selection.
It is the third honor the junior has received this offseason. He was already named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference First Team and the American Baseball Coaches Association All-South Region First Team.
Benedict was seventh in Division III with 0.94 stolen bases per game and his 34 total steals rated eighth. He also led the conference lead in a pair of statistical categories. He was sixth in Division III and leads the league with 34 stolen bases on the season. In addition to his CAC best stolen base total, his .394 batting average paced the circuit as well. Benedict also rated among the conference leaders in hits (fourth, 56), assists (second, 97), and fielding double plays (second, 25), on-base percentage (third, .453).
Benedict was twice named the CAC Player of the Week during the season and Keckler earned a nod as the CAC Pitcher of the Week after the season's opening games.
He was the only CAC player selected to the first team, while Salisbury and Frostburg State were represented on the second team.
