Baseball edged by Eastern on the road

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Wesley College baseball team fell to the Eastern Eagles, 9-6 on the road in non-conference action on Tuesday.

After Wesley fell behind early 3-0, Chris Seibert got Wesley on the board in the third with an RBI double to right field that plated Jarrett Wallace.

Wesley took the 4-3 lead in the fifth inning. Seibert got the scoring going in the fifth when he hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to right to score Wallace from third base. Will Barton scored on the same play when the Eastern first baseman threw the ball away. A batter later, William Foster doubled to left-center field to score Cody Dmiterchik. Eastern regained the one-run lead in the bottom half of the inning.

Wallace tied the game at 5-5 for Wesley when he plated Deshawn Aiken from second base on a two-out RBI single up the middle.

Eastern rallied in the later innings to take a 9-5 lead into the ninth inning. Wesley went to get their own rally started in the ninth when Dmiterchik and Seibert led off the inning with back-to-back singles to left field. Foster scored Dmiterchik with a sac fly to cut the lead to three runs. A batter later, Wesley got into a strike-em-out, throw-em-out double play to end the Wesley threat.

Dmiterchik reached base three times and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Seibert and Foster both knocked in two runs while Seibert collected two hits. Aiken notched a pair of hits and Wallace chipped in with two runs scored.

The Wolverines resume conference play tomorrow when they look to sweep the season series from the Penn St. Harrisburg Lions. First pitch from Middletown, Pa. is set for 3:45 p.m.
