Wolverines Ranked Third by D3football.com

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Wesley College is ranked third in the D3football.com Preseason Top 25 released August 5.

The Wolverines received one first place vote in the poll and finished behind only top ranked Mount Union and No. 2 Wisconsin-Whitewater in the voting.  After Wesley, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Bethel completed the top five.

Mount Union received 19 of the 25 first place votes, with Whitewater claiming five of the remaining six votes.

Wesley was the highest ranked Atlantic Central Football Conference program in the rankings.  Salisbury was ranked nine places below the Wolverines in 12th.

The D3football.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly throughout the season.

Earlier this summer, Wesley was ranked second by USA Today Sports Weekly, third by The Sporting News and sixth in the rankings by Lindy's.

The Wolverines had six players honored on D3football.com's Preseason All-America Team, bringing their total of 2008 Preseason All-Americans to 16.

Wesley, who finished 11-2 in 2008 and won its third straight ACFC Championship on its way to the NCAA Quarterfinals, will be the 'Road Warriors' in 2008.  Seven of Wesley's 10 regular season games will be on the road, beginning with a game at Christopher Newport on September 6.  The Wolverines home opener is two weeks later, when Widener visits Scott Miller Stadium on September 20.
