Wesley Ranked 15th by AFCA
Dover, Del. - The Wesley College football jumped three spots in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) rankings and are ranked 15th in Division III this week according to the poll.
Earlier this week, the Wolverines were voted 11th by D3football.com after a 38-6 win over Frostburg State in their Atlantic Central Football Conference opener.
The top four teams in the AFCA poll remain unchanged from last week. Mount Union held onto the No. 1 spot, but lost one of its 30 first place votes from last week. The Purple Raiders still held 29 of the 40 total first place votes to outdistance No. 2 UW-Whitewater, ranked second with all 11 of the remaining first place votes.
Mary Hardin-Baylor and Capital also remained in the positions at third and fourth, respectively.
Wabash and Muhlenburg flipped positions with the Mules sliding to sixth in the only change in the top five.
Other top 10 teams holding steady include North Central, Wheaton and Washington & Jefferson, once again ranked seven, eight and nine.
A loss by former-No.10 St. John Fisher was the only other change in the top 10, as Cortland State replaced them.
Losses by St. John Fisher, Hardin-Simmons and St. John's (Minn.) allowed Wesley to move up.
Wesley was one of two Atlantic Central Football Conference teams in the poll. Salisbury checked in at No. 20.
The Wolverines, 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the ACFC, will travel to New Rochelle, New York for a contest against Division I FCS foe Iona College on October 11.
