AFCA Votes Wesley 14th
WACO, Texas - The Wesley College football remained 14th in the latest Division III Top 25 released by the American Football Coaches Association.
Earlier in the week, the Wolverines were voted 11th in the D3football.com Top 25 and fourth in the second Lambert-Meadowlands poll.
Wesley held onto the No. 14 spot in the AFCA rankings after a 48-0 win over Apprentice on Homecoming in Atlantic Central Football Conference action. Wesley held the Builders to zero rushing yards on 26 attempts and just 125 yards of total offense.
The top 10 teams in the poll remained almost unchanged from a week ago. The only movement saw Muhlenberg moving from five to four, with Wabash sliding down a spot.
Mount Union captured 30 of the 40 first place votes and held onto the No. 1 ranking for the fifth straight week. No. 2 UW-Whitewater received the other 10 first place votes. Rounding out the top five are No. 3 Mary Hardin-Baylor, Muhlenberg and Wabash. North Central, Wheaton, Washington & Jefferson, Cortland State and Millsaps round out the top 10, respectively.
Wesley is not the only ACFC team in the top 25. Salisbury jumped two spots this week to No. 16. The Sea Gulls are ranked 15th by D3football.com and are fifth in the Lambert-Meadowlands poll.
The Wolverines travel south this weekend for a non-conference game against NAIA foe Webber International on October 25 at 1:00 PM.
