Wesley Sweeps Weekly ACFC Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Wesley College's Jon Lanouette, Sean Matthews, Antonio Regalbuto and Mike Asiedu all won weekly awards from the Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) as the Wolverines swept the conference's weekly honors.

The accolades come on the heels of Wesley's 36-21 win over nationally ranked Salisbury that gave the Wolverines their fourth straight ACFC crown.

Wesley's senior tight end, Lanouette (Wilmington, Del./Newark) was named the Offensive Player of the Week after he caught six passes for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Wesley defeated Salisbury 36-21.  His scoring receptions went for 41 and 20 yards as he ran his school record for career receptions to 139.

The Defensive Player of the Week, Matthews (Pennsauken, N.J./Roman Catholic {Pa.}), a senior linebacker, made 16 tackles (nine solo, seven assisted) with two for a loss of eight yards.  He helped spearhead a defense that held the top-ranked rushing team in Division III to its season low.  The performance vaulted Matthews into the conference lead in tackles.

Asiedu (Yonkers, N.Y./Gorton) was named the Rookie of the Week for the second time in as many weeks.  The free safety made five tackles (three solo, two assisted), forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, and made 1.5 tackles for loss (six yards) in Wesley's victory.

Regalbuto (Clayton, N.J./St. Joseph) earned Special Teams Player of the Week after booming kickoffs all day.  The freshman boomed a pair of touchbacks and averaged 62.2 yards on five kickoffs.

The Wolverines improved to 6-1 with the win and ran the table with a 3-0 mark in the ACFC.  Wesley closes the regular season with a pair of non-conference games, beginning with a trip to Division II Lake Erie College on November 8.
