Wolverines Bounce Bison on Senior Day

Box Score

DOVER, Del. - Larry Beavers struck again, running back both a kick and a punt for touchdowns as Wesley drubbed visiting Gallaudet 55-7 on Senior Day at Dr. Scott D. Miller Stadium.

Beavers took the opening kick off 80 yards to give Wesley the lead and the Wolverines never looked back.  It was the first of six Wesley touchdowns of at least 20 yards.

On Wesley's next possession, Pennewell took a screen pass and rumbled 60 yards for another touchdown to give his team a 13-0.

A six-yard run by Aaron Jackson six minutes later gave Wesley a 20-0 lead after the first quarter.

Beavers fielded a 49-yard punt from Kevin Alley and took it 83 yards for a score as the Wolverines extended the advantage to 27-0 with 13:37 left in the half.

After a fumble by Gallaudet on its next series, a 24-yard pass from Shane McSweeny to Jon Lanouette set up a four-yard run by Abeeb Badmus.

Jackson scored his second touchdown of the afternoon on a 55-yard run up the middle before he cut out to the right for a 41-0 lead with 5:40 left in the first half.

Barry Garrard finished the half by rushing five times for 51 yards on a nine-play drive and scored on a 16-yard run for a 48-0 halftime advantage.

Jeremiah Santiago scored on the second play of the second half when he intercepted the Bison's Jimmy Gardner and ran it back 24 yards for a touchdown.

Garrard got his second touchdown of the afternoon to open the fourth quarter and the Wolverines led 55-0 after his 27-yard run with 12:26 to go in the game.

Gallaudet finally broke through with 10:15 to play.  After Gardner hit Alley for a 57-yard completion, Gardner rushed six yards to make it 55-7.

Ten different players carried the ball as Wesley rushed for a season-high 311 yards.  Garrard led all players with 89 yards on 10 carries, scoring twice.  Jackson tallied 68 on just five runs, while Pennewell ran four times for 57 yards.

McSweeny completed 6-of-9 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.  Lanouette had three receptions for 45 yards.

Sean Matthews made nine tackles to lead the Wolverines, while Santiago had seven and his interception return for a score.

Gardner rushed 11 times for 56 yards to lead the Bison.  He was just 3-of-11 passing, however, for 65 yards.  As a team, Gallaudet rushed for 114 yards on 42 carries, becoming just the third team all season to top 100 against the Wolverines defense.

Wesley will now await word on a potential bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.  The bracket will be announced on Sunday, November 16 between 3:00 and 3:30 PM on ESPNews.
