Matthews Earns ACFC Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Middle linebacker Sean Matthews of the Wesley College football team was named the ACFC Defensive Player of the Week after his performance in the Wolverines 55-7 win over Gallaudet.

Matthews (Pennsauken, N.J./Roman Catholic {Pa.}) made nine tackles, including 0.5 for loss as Wesley held the Bison to just 187 yards of offense on the afternoon.

It is the third time the Wolverines' senior captain earned the award this season.  Matthews also received the award on October 13 and November 2.

Wesley, 8-1 in 2008, will travel to Muhlenberg for the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship at noon on November 2 at Scotty Wood Stadium in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
