CFL's Tiger-Cats Ink Bryan Robinson
HAMILTON, Ontario - Former Wesley College football standout Bryan Robinson signed a contract with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.
Robinson's signing comes on the heels of a standout season with the Manchester Wolves of AF2. The 6-3, 297 lb. defensive end registered 10 sacks in 15 games to finish ninth in the league.
The Tiger-Cats are currently 4-3 and sit in second place in the CFL's East Division.
Last summer, Robinson was among the last cuts with the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League after finishing a stellar career at Wesley.
Robinson anchored the Wesley defense for four years, leading the team to a 44-7 record, three trips to the NCAA Playoffs and two trips to the national semifinals. As a senior, he led a team that advanced to the national quarterfinals and won both the Lambert-Meadowlands and ECAC Team of the Year Awards.
Robinson was named to the AP Little All-American First Team and the American Football Coaches Association All-American First Team in 2007. His selection to the D3football.com All-American First Team was his third selection by that outlet, as was his D3football.com All-South Region Defensive Player of the Year Award. Robinson was also chosen as the ECAC All-Southwest Region Player of the Year.
He was named All-Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) First Team four times and was the ACFC Defensive Player of the Year three times.
Robinson finished his career as both Wesley's and the ACFC's all-time leader with 47 sacks and 92.5 tackles for loss. He also ranks among the school's all-time leaders in tackles.
