ECAC Honors McSweeny
CAPE COD, Mass. - Wesley College quarterback Shane McSweeny (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) was named the ECAC Southwest Offensive Player of the Week after a record setting performance against Frostburg State.
McSweeny tied both school and conference records with six touchdown passes as Wesley defeated the Bobcats, 44-19. He was 18-of-31 for 366 yards and six touchdowns. He also became the first Wolverine to pass for over 300 yards in a game since the 2006 playoffs. Five of the six touchdowns were at least 20 yards in length. He also rushed for 31 yards for good measure.
Earlier in the week, McSweeny was honored as the Atlantic Central Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Wesley, ranked fifth in both the D3football.com and American Football Coaches Association Polls, is idle this week before traveling to Apprentice on October 17.
