Mayes Honored by D3football.com
MINNEAPOLIS - Wesley College sophomore Chris Mayes (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after his performance in a 44-19 Homecoming win over Frostburg State.
The defensive end had 3.5 tackles for losses covering 21 yards, including a sack and a half. Mayes also batted down a pass and finished second on the team with seven tackles. He was a key part of rush defense that limited Frostburg State to just 43 yards on 34 attempts.
Mayes is second Wolverine to earn the honor this season. Linebacker Mike Asiedu (Yonkers, N.Y./Gorton) was named to the team in week two.
Wesley, 5-0 and No. 5 in both major Division III polls, is idle this week before heading to Apprentice on October 17.
