Duo Named ACFC Players of the Week
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Wesley College wide receiver Ellis Krout (Dallas, Texas/Roosevelt) and defensive tackle Mike Ward (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) were named the ACFC's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week after a win over Apprentice.
Krout won the award on offense after making six catches for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the contest. Krout did most of his damage in the first half before the Wolverines turned things over to the reserves in the second half. He scored on touchdowns of 21 and 41 yards in the game.
Ward was honored on defense after tying for the team lead with nine tackles, including six solo stops and three for loss. The senior added half a sack and led a unit that notched its second shutout of the year while holding the Builders to just 154 total yards and 1.9 yards per rush.
The Wolverines, ranked fourth this week by both D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association, hosts Webber International on October 24 at 1:00 PM at Scott D. Miller Stadium.
