Coach Rutherford is in his fourth season coaching the offensive line at Wesley, but has served as an assistant coach since 2002. He also spent two seasons coaching the Wolverine running backs after assisting with the offensive line and tight ends in his first season.

In 2008, his unit blocked for over 200 yards rushing per contest.  His 2007 offensive line blocked for a school record 3,237 rushing yards and the nation's 20th ranked rushing offense (249.0). The unit also blocked for a single game rushing record and another game over 400 yards on the ground. The offensive line also ended the season ranked 18th in the nation, allowing just 1.08 sacks per game.

The offense ran up over 413 yards per game in 2005, while his 2004 offensive line cleared the way for more than 250 yards per game, 17th in Division III.

Rutherford was a two-year letterwinner at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, graduating in 2002 with a degree in Excersice Science. He completed his Master’s in Sports Management at Wesley in 2008. A native of Newark, Delaware, Rutherford played at Newark High School under Coach Butch Simpson. Coach Rutherford helped lead Newark to their first of five straight state championships in 1997.

Rutherford is engaged to Alexis Muniz.
