Wesley Falls in Semifinals

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - A goal by St. Mary's (Md.) Amy Skrickus in overtime ended Wesley's run for a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) championship with a 3-2 loss in the semifinals.

Wesley (12-5) struck first with a Danielle Vincent goal, assisted by Susan Neylan, at 19:54.  Just over seven minutes later, the Seahawks (12-4) tied the score with Strickus' first goal of the afternoon to tie things at 1-1.

Taryn Neeman was assisted on her 13th goal of the year by Vincent and Neylan and the Wolverines went into halftime ahead 2-1.

Less than three minutes into the second half, St. Mary's tied it up and neither team would score again until 84:59, when Skrickus ended the game in sudden death overtime.

LeAnne Hyslop stopped five shots for Wesley, as did Emily Richards for St. Mary's.

Wesley was outshot 12-9 in the contest, but held a 19-8 advantage on penalty corners.

The Seahawks will face the winner of the other semifinal, either Salisbury or Mary Washington.
