Wesley Falls in CAC Quarterfinals
OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stephanie Johnson scored a pair of goals, but it was not enough as Wesley College fell 3-2 on the road at Stevenson in the Capital Athletic Conference Quarterfinals.
The Mustangs (10-9) took a lead just 4:42 in on the first of two scores on the afternoon by Krissy Leventis assisted by Katelyn Manocheh, who had a hand in all three Stevenson goals.
Manocheh made it 2-0 at 21:18, before Johnson (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) beat Kara Zimmerman for her sixth goal of the year at 27:03.
Manocheh scored on a corner as the half ended to send the Mustangs into the locker room ahead 3-1 with assists from Cat Connelly and Emily Pullarn.
Wesley (11-7) scored the only goal of the second half from Johnson with an assist from Brooke Tadlock (Middletown, Del./Middletown) at 56:35. The Wolverines had a pair of penalty corners and five shots down the stretch, but were unable to tie the score.
Maura Druhan (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) started and played the first 40:48, allowing two goals and making two saves. Sarah Johnson (Honeybrook, Pa./Twin Valley) finished the contest, making one save in 28:16 of action.
Zimmerman played the entire game and made six saves for Stevenson.
The Wolverines held a 14-8 advantage in shots and led 11-5 on penalty corners.
Wesley has won at least 11 games in each of the past 12 seasons.
