No. 14 Rowan Topples Wesley
DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's Brooke Tadlock (Middletown, Del./Middletown) tied the game at 1-1 off a penalty corner in the second half, but No. 14 Rowan would score twice more for a 3-1 win.
The Profs' (6-4) Lauren Ross opened the scoring with the first of her two goals on the evening in the 20th minute for the only tally of the opening 35 minutes.
In the second half, Wesley (9-3) was awarded a penalty corner and Erin Bailey (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) passed the ball in to Tadlock, who drove it home to tie the contest with her ninth goal of the season.
The tie was short lived, however, as Ross scored again six minutes later at 47:26. Julie Cairone later gave the Profs some breathing room with a score midway through the 54th minute.
Sarah Johnson (Honeybrook, Pa./Twin Valley) stopped four shots for the Wolverines, while Rowan's Lisa Apt made six saves.
Johnson received help on the evening from Dana Keller (Dover, Del./Dover) and Amber Tank (New Castle, Del./William Penn), both of whom registered defensive saves in the contest.
Rowan outshot the Wolverines 17-13, but Wesley held a 13-7 advantage in penalty corners.
Of Wesley's three losses, two have come to nationally ranked opponents.
Wesley will look to rebound when they travel to William Paterson on Saturday, October 10.
