Golf Set To Tee It Up at NCAAs

The Wesley College golf team will tee it up in the first round of the NCAA Division III Golf Championships on Tuesday, May 13.

The Wolverines have drawn tee times starting with group 11, starting at 9:00 AM on the Woodlands Course at the Chateau Elan Resort.  The field is split between the Woodlands and Chateau courses at the resort.

Wesley is paired up with Mary Hardin Baylor and a familiar team to the Wolverines, Cabrini.  The Cavaliers and Wesley were opponents in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC), until the Wolverines left to join the Capital Athletic Conference this season.

Andrew Geyer kicks it off at 9:00 AM for Wesley, with the next groups following in nine minute intervals.  Will Scarborough goes off at 9:09, followed by Chris Osberg, Riley Powers, and Mike Rushin, respectively.

The Wolverines are in the final group starting on the front nine.

Wesley enters the week ranked No. 24 in the last Golf World/NIKE Division III Coaches poll and hold the same position in the most recent Golfstat Division III Team Standings.

The Wolverines have also won two consecutive tournaments, claiming victory at the Wesley Spring Invitational and the CAC Championships.  All five Wesley players earned All-CAC honors.  Osberg won the CAC Championship and was named the CAC Player of the Year.  Rushin and Geyer joined him on the first team, with Powers and Scarborough earning second team honors.

It was Wesley's 10th consecutive conference title after winning nine straight as members of the PAC.

The 2008 NCAA Division III Golf Championships are being hosted by Emory University and the Gwinnett Sports Commission.
