No. 13 Wesley Takes Eighth at Ted Keller
GLEN ALLEN, Va. - No. 13 Wesley College rebounded on the second day of the Ted Keller Invitational to finish eighth as a team at the two-day event hosted by Randolph-Macon at the Hunting Hawk Golf Club.
After shooting a 322 on the first day, the Wolverines - playing with three new players in the lineup from last season - posted a 307 in the second round to move up to eighth in the 13-team field. The 307 on the final 18 was the fourth best score of the day.
Defending Capital Athletic Conference Champion Chris Osberg led Wesley with a 149 (+7) to tie for fifth. The Wolverines' other returning starter Andrew Geyer tied for 11th two strokes back.
Wesley's next two finishers overcame rocky first rounds. Kevin Reidinger shot eight strokes better in the second round to tie for 47th at 166 (+24). Jeff Owsik improved 15 shots on the final 18 and was tied 51st, three shots behind Reidinger.
Rob Zimmerer (174, +32) rounded out the Wesley contingent in 58th place.
Bridgewater College won the team championship with a two-day 596 (+28), three strokes better than second place Greensboro. Greensboro's Brock Elder shot a two-over 144 to win the individual scoring.
Wesley finished with at 629, 61-over on the par 71, 6,832-yard course.
The Wolverines will now host the Wesley Fall Invitational on September 22-23 at Wild Quail in Camden, Delaware.
