Johnson Named All-CAC

DOVER, Del. - Wesley College junior guard Rashawn Johnson was named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference First Team after a stellar season in which he finished second in the conference in scoring.

It is the third time Johnson has earned all-conference first team honors, as the Selbyville, Delaware native was chosen to the All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference First Team in each of the past two seasons before Wesley moved to the CAC in 2007-08.

Hood's Ryan Junghans, St. Mary's Tyson Lesesne, Chad McGowan of York (Pa.), and Marymount's Fred Stanback joined him on the All-CAC First Team.

As a junior, Johnson scored a career-high 22.5 points per game to finish second in the CAC to York's McGowan, who was named the CAC Player of the Year.  Johnson led the conference in offensive rebounding (3.27 per game) and minutes per game (37.27), and also finished 10th in conference in rebounding (6.3), third in steals (1.92), and seventh in made threes (2.50).

The Sussex Tech graduate scored at least 20 points in 19 of Wesley's 26 games and was named to the all-tournament team at Gettysburg Days Inn Tip Off Tournament, the 'Mose' Hole/Kiwanis Classic in Wooster, Ohio, and the Radisson Invitational in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Johnson finished the season just 23 points shy of the school's all-time scoring record and sixth on Wesley's career rebounding list with 498.  He is also ninth in career steals with 122.

In addition to McGowan winning Player of the Year honors, Shaun Ingram of Marymount was chosen as the CAC's Rookie of the Year, while Mary Washington's Rod Wood won Coach of the Year.

Wesley finished its 2007-08 season with a record of 14-12 overall and tied for third in the Capital Athletic Conference with a 9-7 record.
