Wesley to Host Henlopen All-Stars

DOVER, Del. - Bob Lennon, tournament director for the 2008 BlueGold Girls & Boys High School All-Star Basketball Games, has announced that both the boys and the girls "Gold" all-star basketball squads will hold a practice on Thursday, April 3rd, at the Jim & Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium on the campus of Wesley College. The practices, which are scheduled to start at 6PM, are open free to the general public. Youngsters throughout Kent and Sussex counties are encouraged to come out and meet the players and to have their own team jerseys autographed by the all-star players.

Superior Court Judge M. Jane Brady and attorney Keith E. Donovan, a three sport all-state athlete at Cape Henlopen, will be on hand to address and congratulate the all-star players and coaches.

In addition to shoot-around practices, the preliminaries of the boys slam dunk and the girls' 2-ball contest will be held. Those making the cuts will compete three days later in the finals at the BlueGold All-Star Games on Sunday, April 6th, at the Bob Carpenter Center on the campus of the University of Delaware in Newark.

The top senior basketball players from Henlopen Conference schools are selected for all-star play by coaches' votes. As a special added feature at this year's BlueGold Games, the Philadelphia Eagles will play in a benefit game against a corporate sponsor team coached by Judge Brady at 6:30 PM between the girls all-star game (scheduled for a 5:00 tip-off) and the boys all-star game (scheduled for an 8:00 tip-off). Reserved tickets are currently on sale at $10. Tickets can be purchased by calling the BlueGold ticket hotline at 302-765-1222.
