Wesley Adds Three In-State Recruits

DOVER, Del. - Wesley College head coach Jerry Kobasa has announced the addition of three former Delaware high school standouts, who will continue their academic and athletic careers with the Wolverines.

Kyan Andrews, Eric Selby and Darrell Johnson will all join the Welsey College men's basketball team in 2010-11.

Andrews is a 6-5, 220-lb graduate of Woodbridge High School who comes to the Wolverines after a year at Hagerstown Community College.  In high school, he averaged a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while adding five assists, three steals and two blocks per game.  He was named All-DIAA First Team, All-Henlopen Conference First Team and played in the Blue-Gold All-Star Game.  The Seaford, Delaware native went on to lead to Hagerstown CC to an 18-10 record in his one season there.  Andrews averaged 14 ppg and 10.7 rpg on 48 percent shooting and added 2.9 apg, 1.7 spg and 1.5 bpg with the Hawks.

Selby is a 5-9 point guard from Wilmington, Delaware and a graduate of Howard High School.  The son of Dawn Hlui, he averaged 21 ppg and eight apg as a senior and topped 1,000 career points  A two-year captain, Selby played in the Blue-Gold All-Star Game and was twice named first team all-conference.  After his senior year, he was a McDonalds All-American nominee and was named second team all-state.

Johnson, also a Howard High School product, is a 6-4 guard who comes to Wesley after playing at each Division I Delaware and Division II Goldey-Beacom.  In high school, he was a McDonalds All-American nominee and was named Most Valuable Player of Jameer Nelson Senior Showcase.  Johnson earned first team all-state selection as a senior after averaging 26 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists per game.  During a junior year in which he was named second team all-state, he averaged 29.7 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.  The son of Carrie Johnson, he started 28 games as a freshman for the Blue Hens, averaging 6.3 points per game.  Johnson then averaged 7.8 ppg in one year with the Lightning.

The three recruits join a Wesley program that has advanced to two straight NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournaments and returns four starters from last season's 18-win team, including Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year Paul Reynolds and All-CAC pick Rudy Thomas.
