Beavers Qualifies for NCAA Indoors
INDIANAPOLIS - Wesley College's Larry Beavers (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) became the first student-athlete in school history to qualify for the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and will compete in the 55-meter dash.
The championships will be held March 13-14 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Beavers will own the 11th seed in the race with his best time a 6.42 at the Terrapin Invitational in January.
Adding track & field to the list, Wesley has qualified for the NCAA Championships in three different sports this season and five in school history. Men's basketball and football also qualified this year, while men's golf and field hockey have also made appearances in the NCAA postseason.
One other student-athlete from the Capital Athletic Conference qualified in the 55-meter, Salisbury's Delanie Spriggs.
The track & field program is in just its second year of varsity status.
A total of 400 participants will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event.
