Southern Virginia downs men’s lacrosse on the road

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Wesley College men's lacrosse team were defeated by the Southern Virginia Knights, 21-7 in a conference road matchup on Saturday.

Josh Wassum netted his seventh multi-goal game of the season with a hat-trick. He also added an assist on Joe Fingles' goal in the third quarter.

Fingles chipped in with a pair of goals while Cody Loyd and Chris Smith each tallied a goal. Loyd's goal in the fourth quarter was the first goal of his collegiate career.

Nolan Vesey caused three turnovers on defense. Zach Farnell recorded two caused turnovers in the loss.

James Cella stopped 11 shots in three-quarters of work in net.

The Wolverines will take on the St. Mary's Seahawks on Wednesday in their final road game of the 2018 season. That game is slated for a 4 p.m. start from St. Mary's City, Md.
