Wolverines Calm the Green Terror
Dover, Del. - Wesley College (3-3) shut out visiting McDaniel College (2-4) 3-0 in front of 102 fans at Dr. Scott D. Miller Stadium.
Thomas Yolain (Windsor Mill, Md.) opened the scoring for the Wolverines in the 37th minute. Yolain was the recipient of a nice cross from fellow Wolverine Craig Taswell (Latham, Md.) after he made a mad rush up the right side. Yolain was able to dive and deflect the ball into the net off his right heel for his first goal of the season.
Wesley continued to turn away constant pressure from the Green Terror as goalie Nick Talarico (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.) made 9 saves in the game. McDaniel outshot the Wolverines 14 - 8 on the day.
Wesley earned their insurance goal as Will Sutton (Washington D.C.) scored unassisted in the 78th minute.
The game began to get a little rough as both team traded hard fouls late in the game. Wesley added an emphasis to the victory when Jason Norris (Woodstown, N.J.) hammered home a corner kick from freshman Oscar Juvera (Prescott Valley, Ariz.) in the 90th minute.
Wesley hosts Widener on Saturday, September 20th at 6:00 p.m.
