Talarico Has Career Night in Wesley Win

Box Score

WASHINGTON, Md. - Wesley College sophomore Nick Talarico stopped a career-high 14 shots to make a pair of first half goals stand up and notch his fourth shutout of 2008 in a 2-0 win at Washington College.

Will Sutton (Washington, D.C./The Lab School) scored his team-high fifth goal of the season just 3:56 into the game when he intercepted an errant pass from Shoreman goalkeeper Chris Phipps and put it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The score stood that way until Mike Thomas (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) scored on a breakaway at 32:10.

In the second half, Talarico (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands) made 10 of his 14 saves to preserve the shutout, repeatedly turning away the Washington offense.

The win extended the Wolverines unbeaten streak to nine, including seven victories.

Wesley will look to keep the streak alive when Valley Forge Christian College comes to Dover, Delaware for an 8:00 PM kickoff on Saturday, October 18.
