Wesley Drops CAC Finale to Mustangs
STEVENSON, Md. - Wesley College outshot Stevenson 22-14 in the match, but could not find the back of the net dropping a 1-0 final to the Mustangs in the Capital Athletic Conference action.
The Mustangs' (6-9-2, 2-4-1 CAC) Tyler King scored off a cross from Kyle Baker for the game's only score at 21:06.
The Wolverines (10-5-2, 4-3-1 CAC) outshot the former-Villa Julie 13-3 in the second half, but Adam Wiatrowski made four of his six saves to pick up the shutout. Wesley mustered three in the final five minutes of play, but a header by Craig Taswell (Latham, Md./Duvall) was saved and Kyle Hazard (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) missed high before Thomas Yolain (Windsor Mill, Md./Randallstown) was turned away by Wiatrowski at 88:12.
Nick Talarico made six saves for Wesley.
With the loss, the Wolverines will be the fourth seed in the upcoming CAC Championship Tournament.
The Wolverines will look to end the regular season on a high note when Catholic visits Dr. Scott D. Miller Stadium on October 29 at 7:00 PM.
