Wesley Falls to Guilford 3-1
Hampden-Sydney, Va. - The Wesley College men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Guilford on the final day of the Tiger Classic at Hampden-Sydney College.
Guilford (3-2-1) struck first with the only goal of the first half off a score by Ronnie Castellanos in the 27th minute.
Just after the intermission, Wesley (2-3) tied the game up with a goal by Frank Buffa (Phoenixville, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) at 49:20, assisted by Luis Rivera (Rockville, Md./Rockville). The tie stood until a Quaker goal by Freddy Gomez early in the 61st minute.
Gomez later assisted on an insurance goal by Jeff Floyd at 81:46.
Nick Talarico (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands) made five saves in goal for Wesley.
Peter Truitt stopped three shots for Guilford, who held a 22-13 advantage in shots.
The Wolverines will look to get back in the win column on September 16 with a 7:00 PM start at Neumann.
