Wesley Downs Gallaudet
DOVER, Del. - Senior Alex Johnston (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) led nine different Wolverines who scored as Wesley College defeated Gallaudet 10-0 in Capital Athletic Conference men's soccer action.
In a game where starters saw limited action, several reserves stepped to the forefront against a hard working Bison squad.
Ryan Fish (Rancocas Valley, N.J./Rancocas Valley) scored in the fourth minute to open up the scoring for the Wolverines. Later, in the 10th minute, Frank Buffa (Phoenixville, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) picked up the first of his two first half assists on a score by Oscar Juvera (Prescott Valley, Ariz./Prescott Valley).
Freshman Luis Rivera (Rockville, Md./Rockville) had a hand in the Wolverines' next two goals. He assisted on Kyle Long's (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye) score in the 14th minute, then scored himself during the game's 21st minute. Thomas Yolain (Windsor Mill, Md./Randallstown) sent Wesley (5-3, 2-0 CAC) into halftime ahead 5-0 after a tally in the 23rd minute, assisted by Johnston.
Kennon McMahon (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) opened the scoring in the second half with a goal early in the 55th minute, aided by Joey Bottani (Ramapo, N.J./Pompton Lakes).
Wesley then received back-to-back tallies from Omega Dabale (Jos, Nigeria) in the 66th and 70th minutes.
The Wolverines were awarded a penalty kick in 76th minute, which Johnston converted for his second goal of the evening.
Joel Jean-Simon (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) capped the scoring in the 80th minute.
Tom Mikulski (Nutley, N.J./Nutley), Brian Zuber (Wenonah, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) and Isai Alberto (Cliffside Park, N.J./Cliffside Park) split time in goal. Mikulski made one save in the first half.
Poloko Qobose stopped 13 shots for Gallaudet (0-9, 0-3 CAC).
Wesley travels to Mary Washington on Saturday September 26 at 3:30 PM.
