Wesley Downs Marymount 4-1
DOVER, Del. - Four different Wolverines scored as Wesley captured a 4-1 win over Marymount in a key CAC men's soccer match up.
Omar De Los Santos (Prescott Valley, Ariz./Prescott Valley) got Wesley (9-6, 4-3 CAC) on the board early in the 10th minute when Marymount (7-7-1, 3-4 CAC) keeper William Brahmstedt came out after the ball and De Los Santos flipped the ball over his head for a 1-0 lead.
The Wolverines made it 2-0 at the half with a three on two breakaway with less than a minute left before the intermission. Matt Nimmerichter (Middletown, Del./Middletown) and Kennon McMahon (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) worked a give and go to perfection, with Nimmerichter striking the ball into the back of the net.
Saidu Fofanah (Yeardon, Pa./Pennwood) made it 3-0 early in the second half during the 54th minute before the Saints tried to rally.
Paul Decker headed a ball in for a goal to cut it to 3-1 at 63:51. He nearly got his second 14 minutes later, but was offsides on the play.
The Wolverines capped the win with Joey Bottani's (Ramapo, N.J./Pompton Lakes) first career goal in the 85th minute.
Nick Talarico (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands) made five saves in the win. Brahmstedt had nine for Marymount.
The two teams entered the game tied at 3-3 in the conference standings, with the Wolverines now moving a game ahead of the Saints in the conference standings and holding the head-to-head tie breaker.
Wesley remains at home to host Richard Stockton on October 21 at 7:00 PM.
