Late Goal Snaps Win Streak
DOVER, Del. - A goal by Ansger Otto in the 85th minute lifted Stevenson to a 2-1 win in a key CAC men's soccer match and snapped Wesley College's three-match win streak.
The Mustangs (9-8, 4-3 CAC) got on the board early in the contest on a goal by Josh Danza, assisted by Tyler King in the 17th minute.
Wesley (10-7, 4-4 CAC), however, tied it up right before the half on a corner by Luis Rivera that Kyle Long (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye) knocked home for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.
The tie stood, however, until Otto fired a shot into the left side of the net late in regulation for the win.
Nick Talarico (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands) made 12 saves for the Wolverines. Ryan Flanelly stopped five for the Mustangs.
The match had implications for the CAC postseason, with the winner hosting the loser next weekend in a first round match up.
Before the start of the conference postseason, Wesley has a non-conference match with Catholic on October 27.
