Wesley Has Strong Showing at Hornet Invitational
DOVER, Del. - Wesley College finished sixth at the Hornet Invitational, just seven out of fifth, as the only Division III school in the competition.
Larry Beavers and Matt Walker turned in second place finishes for the Wolverines.
Beavers ran a 10.94 in the 100m, just three hundredths of a second behind Delaware State's Larrone Moore. Michael Clarke took third in the event, running an 11.15. Alpha Koroma just missed the eight-man final, placing ninth.
Beavers added another second place finish in the 110m high hurdles, crossing the finish line in 15.71.
Walker tossed the javelin 150-5, just 2-2 behind the champion, Arlon Morrison from Coppin State.
Dakevis Howard turned in a pair of third place finishes. He had a hop, skip and jump of 44-5 1/4 in the triple jump and his height of 5-6 tied teammate Hodges Horton in the high jump.
Wesley competes at the Osprey Open at Richard Stockton on April 5.
