Donisi Makes NCAA Outdoor Championships
INDIANAPOLIS, Md. - Wesley College freshman long jumper Chris Donisi (Woodbury, N.J./West Deptford) qualified for the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Track & Field Championships to be held at Marietta College on Thursday, May 21.
Donisi qualified with his Capital Athletic Conference record jump of 23-3 1/4 (7.09 meters) earlier this year at the Mason Dixon Conference Championships. The mark was also a Wesley College record.
With his inclusion in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, Wolverine student-athletes have now qualified for both the indoor and outdoor national championships in just the program's second varsity season.
Senior Larry Beavers (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) competed at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships earlier this year. Beavers also qualified for outdoor championships, but will not compete due to preseason obligations with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League.
Donisi won conference championships this season in both the Capital Athletic Conference and Mason Dixon Conference.
The championship runs from May 21-23, but the long jump will be contested on the first day, beginning at 3:00 PM.
