BOSTON, Mass. – The Wesley College men's track & field team, led by a gold-medal winning 4x200m Relay, had an impressive showing at the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships this weekend at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center. The Wolverines finished with 32 points, finishing seventh overall and just 15 points off the team title.
The all-freshman contingent of Markael Jenkins, Patrick Schlosser, Da'Jahn Lowery and Johnny Crenshaw took the 4x200m Relay in a school-record 1:29.15, beating out Worcester State by .75. Jenkins and Lowery also both placed in the 60m Dash with Jenkins running a CAC-record 6.88 to take the silver and Lowery a 6.99 to finish fifth. Jenkins now sits 11th nationally in the event.
Crenshaw also had a personal-best showing in the 200m Dash, finishing in 22.54 and winning his heat by nearly half a second.
The 4x400 Relay of freshmen Evan Le'Mon, Anthony Brinkley, and Dominic McAnulty, as well as junior Carlton Sheppard also broke a CAC record, finishing fourth in 3:20.80. The new mark breaks their existing conference record by nearly three seconds.
Sheppard had one of the toughest days of any competitor at the ECAC Championships as he had a pair of scoring finishes and school-records in the 400m Dash and 800m Run. The Baltimore, Md., native, took fifth in the 400m Dash in a time of 49.46 and 8th in the 800m Run in 1:55.67.
Freshman Raymond King also competed in the triple jump and hit a mark of just over 45 feet.
Those Wolverines who rank in the Top 15 nationally in their individual events will compete at the 2014 NCAA Championships held at the University of Nebraska on March 14-15.
