Wesley Falls Twice at Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. - Wesley College dropped a pair of non-conference games at Arcadia University, falling 8-4 and 10-0.

Keeyana Talley (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley)  hit a three-run home run - the first of her career - in the opener as part of a four-run second inning, but the Knights rallied for an 8-4 victory.

Arcadia took a 1-0 lead in the first when Lindsey Henchinski led off with a bunt single and scored lated in the frame.

Brittany Steele (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) led off the second with a single and moved to third on a double by Megan Street (Bridgeville, Del./Epworth Christian).  After Kelly Karle (Baltimore, Md./Mercy) drove in Steele with a fielder's choice to tie the game at 1-1, McKenzie Davis (Hebron, Md./Mardela) walked to put runners on first and second for Talley's thee-run bomb.

The Knights answered back in the third with a two-run blast by Virginia Buechel and an RBI single by Henchinski to tie the game at 4-4.  An RBI double by Kristen Burns then fueled another three run inning in the fourth for Arcadia.

Diana Rufo and Ashley McCarthy had four hits apiece as the Knights ripped 19 hits in the contest.  Each of Arcadia's first five batters tallied at least two hits.

Street had a pair of hits for the Wolverines.  The senior also took the loss inside the circle, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 19 hits and a walk and struck out two.

Kiersten Hughes, meanwhile, allowed Wesley only five hits to pick up the win.

In the second game, the Knights scored four runs in each the first and second innings in a 10-0 win in five innings. 

Buechel had a two-run single in the first inning to spark a rally and Rufo doubled in a pair of runs in a four-run second inning. 

Kelsey Roberts tossed a two-hit shutout to pick up the win.  The Wolverines managed just hits by Street and Davis. 

Buechel had three RBIs in the game.

Wesley is back in action on Saturday, April 4 with a Capital Athletic Conference twinbill at York (Pa.).
