Wesley Drops Two at Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Wesley College softball team dropped a pair of non-conference road games at Delmarva Penninsula rival Washington College.
The Shorewomen broke open the first game with seven run third and went on to win 13-0 in five innings. Sally Snover hit a three-run homer in the first to give Washington an early lead, then after a run in the second, a two-run triple by Gabby Devaud and a two-run homer by Tori Ripple fueled the seven-run outburst in the third.
Emily Adams, meanwhile, tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out six.
Washington used a five-run first inning in the second game to win 10-2 in six innings. Kat Plavnick had the big blow in the inning with a two-run double.
Wesley answered in the top of the second with a solo home run by Megan Street (Bridgeville, Del./Epworth Christian), her third of the year. Later, in the fourth inning, Carmen Walsh (Rehoboth Beach, Del./St.Marks) added her team-leading fourth home run of the year to cut the score to 5-2.
Washington, however, finished Wesley off with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the sixth.
The Wolverines wrap up their season with a doubleheader on Saturday at home with Eastern at 1:00 PM.
