Extra Innings Unkind to Wolverines

Box Scores:  Game One | Game Two

DOVER, Del. - Wesley dropped a pair of games to Eastern in extra innings on Saturday.  In both games, the Eagles used big innings to put away the sweep.

It was also Senior Day at Wesley, as the Wolverines honored their lone senior, Megan Street (Bridgeville, Del./Epworth Christian) before the contests.  The senior pitcher had a pair of hits on the day and struck out five in 13 innings of work as a pitcher.

Neither team scored in the first game until a seven run seventh inning by Eastern.  Kristine Rosko shut out the Wolverines, allowing just seven hits, striking out seven and not walking a batter.

Lacey Smith (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) had two hits for Wesley in the opener.  Maggie McGowan had three hits and two RBIs for Eastern.

In the second game, the teams stood tied at 6-6 heading into the eighth, where the Eagles erupted for eight runs and went on to win 14-8.

Michele Morongell had three hits and five RBIs.   Molly Oberholzer had three hits and drove in four runs in the contest.

McKenzie Davis (Hebron, Md./Mardela) had a triple among her three hits and drove in a pair.  Carmen Walsh (Rehoboth Beach, Del./St.Marks) also knocked in a two for Wesley and had two hits.
