Wolverines Add Mayfield

DOVER, Del. - Wesley College women's basetball coach James Wearden has announced that 2008 Lacey Township High School graduate Stephanie Mayfield will continue her academic and athletic careers at Wesley.

Mayfield helped lead Lacey Township to a 21-5 record as a senior in 2007-08, averaging 13.8 points per game for Head Coach Patty Cooke.

A prolific outside shooter, Mayfield set school records for three point field goals in a game (six), season (49) and career (125).  She also set the school record for points in a game with 32 on February 13, 2008 against Raritan.

A three time Times Beacon All-Southern Ocean County First Team pick, she was named to the Newark Star Ledger All-Ocean County First team and the Asbury Park Press and DigitalSports A South Division First Team as a senior.

The daugher of Jeff and Suzette Mayfield, Stephanie had a string of 40 games with at least one three pointer and finished her career third all-time at Lacey Township with 942 points.

Mayfield will look to bolster a Wolverine squad that finished 12-14 overall and 8-8 in the Capital Athletic Conference, a five-win improvement over the previous season.
