Wesley Falls at Catholic
WASHINGTON, D.C. - A 13-0 run by Catholic late in the second half erased a Wesley College lead as the Cardinals defended their home floor with a 76-64 win over the Wolverines.
Kate Robinson shot 11-of-21 from the field on her way to a career high 24 points for Catholic.
A lay in by Michele Mules (York, Pa./Susquehannock) put Wesley (1-5) ahead 62-61 with 7:16 to play, but the Wolverines would not score again for just over five minutes as Catholic (5-2) rattled off a dozen points to take control of the contest.
The Wolverines shot a season-best 50 percent from the floor in the game, but could not overcome 28 total turnovers, including three players with seven apiece.
The Cardinals shot only 41 percent from the field for the game, but 20 offensive rebounds and 12 steals was the deciding factor.
Colleen Thomas (Howell, N.J./Howell) led Wesley with 15 points. Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) had a season-high 14 points, as did Allison Beddia (New Castle, Del./Delcastle) with 11. Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) gave the Wolverines four players in double figures with 11 points and led the team with nine rebounds.
In addition to Robinson's big night for the Cardinals, Brianna Peterson scored 18 points and grabbed six boards.
Wesley will look to rebound with its home and Capital Athletic Conference opener on Saturday, December 6 at 2:00 PM against Gallaudet University.
