Wesley Women Lose First CAC Game

Dover, Del. - Wesley's Angie Owens led the way with 18 points and 12 rebounds, but it was not enough as the Wolverines dropped their first Capital Athletic Conference game to visiting Marymount University 74-63 at Wentworth Gymnasium.

Coming off a 22 rebound effort against Greensboro College, Owens was tough inside on the boards grabbing 7 of her 12 rebounds on the offensive side of the court. Owens also shot 8 of 15 from the floor and added 2 free throws for her team high 18 points. Owens is averaging 15.1 points per game this season for the Wolverines.

Wesley first lead of the game came at the 15:18 mark of the first half on a Owens' layup. Fellow Wolverine Cory Boyd kept the game close scoring 15 points including one three pointer.

The Wolverines lost the lead for good after a Latasha Torres three pointer tied the game at 4:12 of the first half.

Marymount built their lead to as much as 19 points in the second half. The Saint's Kathleen Brown and Kathryn Wilson scored 20 and 19 points respectively to lead thier team to victory.

The loss put Wesley at 5-6 on the season and 2-1 in the CAC. The Wolverines host Washington College (Md.) on Monday, January 12 at Wentworth Gymnasium, 6:00 p.m. start time.
