Three Pointers Lead to Victory

DOVER, Del. - Colleen Thomas (Howell, N.J./Howell) and Latasha Torres (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) combined to go 9-of-9 from three point range as Wesley College picked up a 69-60 win over Washington College in a battle for Delmarva Penninsula bragging rights.

Thomas hit 5-of-5 from beyond the arc for all 15 of her points, while Torres went hit all four of her three point attempts on her way to 16 points.  As a team, Wesley hit 52 percent (13-of25) from behind the arc. 

Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) had a strong game with 19 points, seven assists and four steals.

Both squads battled back in forth in a first half that had seven ties, the last of which came on a three by Jessica Jamrogowicz with 46 seconds left that sent the teams into the locker room tied at 31-31.

The second half opened as a see-saw battle, until Wesley (6-6) went on an 8-0 run to build a 49-41 lead after a three by Torres with 11:16 to play.

Three straight layups by the Shorewomen (8-2) cut it to two, 49-47, with 9:28 left, but after a three by Thomas, Washington never got closer than three again.

Brianne Slizofski turned in a double-double for Washington with 14 points and 11 boards.  Meghan Tait added 13 for the Shorewomen, while Jamrogowicz had 10 and six assists.

The Wesley victory snapped Washington's five game win streak and was the Wolverines' fifth win in their last six games.
