Wesley Earns ECAC Championship Bid

Gwynned-Mercy Visitor's Guide

CAPE COD, Mass. - The Wesley College women's basketball team has been awarded a berth to the 2009 ECAC South Women's Basketball Championships and will travel to Gwynned-Mercy on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:00 PM.

The Wolverines (15-12) are seeded seventh in the tournament, while the Griffins (19-8) are owners of the two seed.

In the other first round contests on Wednesday, top seeded Albright College (17-8) will host Juniata College (15-11) at 7 p.m. while No. 3 Manhattanville College (19-10) hosts No. 6 Centenary College (17-8) at 7 p.m. and No. 4 Alvernia College (17-9) will host No. 5 Neumann College (18-9) at 7 p.m.

The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, March 7 which will be played at the campus of the highest remaining seed.  The winner of Albright-Juniata match-up will face the winner of Alvernia/Neumann game at a time yet to be determined in one semifinal, and the winner of Gwynedd-Mercy/Wesley match-up vs. will play the winner of Manhattanville/Centenary game at a time yet to be determined in the other semifinal.  The semifinal winners will meet Sunday, March 8th at TBD for the championship on the campus of the highest remaining seed.

Semifinals - Saturday, March 7, 2009 at highest remaining seeded team

Championship - Sunday, March 8th at highest remaining seed
