Women’s basketball ends home portion of regular season against Salisbury

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College women's basketball team fell to their Route 13 rival Salisbury, 62-50 in their home finale of the 2017-18 regular season.

Wesley was down 24-19 to Salisbury at the half and tied the game at 26-26 in the third quarter behind a 7-2 run to start the second half.

Salisbury called a timeout after Wesley tied up the game and started to pull away from the Wolverines.

Monshea Newsome-Murray led the Wolverines in the contest with 17 points and nine rebounds. She also took the ball away from the Sea Gulls five times, dished out two assists and swatted a shot

Tiyanna Gibbs and Megan Shacklock each recorded double figures in the loss. Gibbs tallied 11 points while Shacklock notched 10 points and pulled down five rebounds.

Shelby Johnson registered her 11th double-digit rebound game of the season with a 12-rebound night for the Wolverines. Johnson also scored seven points.

Kaylyn French and Courtney Brigham each had double-doubles in the win for Salisbury.

The Wolverines will end the regular season on the road this Saturday when they head to Western Maryland to face off with the Frostburg State Bobcats in conference action. The tip is set for 1 p.m.
