Women's Lacrosse All-PAC Announced
Scott Named 1st Team
Dover, DE - Wesley College's Becky Scott (JR, Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was named to the 2005 Women's Lacrosse 1st Team All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) as a defender, while Ginny Roma (SR, Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) and Beth Burke (FR, Upperco, MD/North Carroll) earned 2nd team accolades at the midfield positions. Scott accounted for 46 groundballs, 29 caused turnovers and also started in 14-of-15 games for the Lady Wolverines.  Roma had 22 goals and 7 assists for Wesley, with Burke accounting for 13 goals and 4 assists.  Stephanie Hartsoe (SR, Newark, DE/Newark) was named to the All-PAC Sportsmanship Team.

Wesley finished the season 7-8 overall and a 7-3 conference mark, helping the Lady Wolverines to their 4th consecutive PAC Tournament appearance.

Wesley Dropped in 1st Round of PAC Tourney
(Saturday, April 30th)
Dover, DE - #4 Wesley College (7-8) hosted #5 Neumann College (8-7) in the 1st round of the 2005 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament, falling by a final score of 10-6 on Saturday afternoon.  Courtney Murphy (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower) scored 19 seconds into the game to put Neumann on top 1-0.  The Lady Knights would hold onto the lead until Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) put Wesley on the board with 23:13 left in the first half.  Neumann would answer right back with 3 unanswered goals to go up 4-1 and held their largest margin of 4 goals on consecutive goals by Samantha Lafferty (Glenolden, PA/Interboro) to put Neumann up 6-2.  Lafferty scored 2 goals in 36 seconds.  Wesley's Kelsey Humphries (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) scored with 5:00 left to close the gap to 6-3 heading into halftime.   Photo: Kelsey Humphries

Wesley would close the deficit to 2 goals on a goal by Samantha Keller (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) just 50 seconds into the second half, but the Lady Wolverines would get no closer than 2 goals the rest of the game.  Wesley and Neumann traded goals the rest of the half, with Neumann scoring consecutive goals to end the game.  Lafferty led Neumann with 3 goals, while Kolleen Kitzinger (Springfield, PA/Predergrast), Michelle Roberts (Carneys Point, NJ/Pennsgrove) and Staci Dougherty (Media, PA/Cardinal Dougherty) all had 2 goals apiece.  Humphries had 2 goals to lead Wesley.  Roma, Keller, Kristin Stiller (Baltimore, MD/Our Lady of Mount Carmel) and Stacey Johnson (Southampton, NJ/Lenape) had 1 goal apiece.  Photo: Kristin Stiller scores with 22:47 remaining in the second half.

Wesley out-shot the Knights 30-28.  Neumann goalkeeper Caitlin O'Shea (Springfield, PA/Springfield) posted 17 saves on the day.  Neumann will advance to play in the semifinal round at #1 Cabrini or #2 Gwynedd-Mercy.  Game time will be set for 4:00.

Johnson Scores 4 goals
(Friday, April 22nd)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (7-7, 7-3) defeated conference opponent Neumann College (7-6, 7-3) by a final score of 13-11 in a key women's lacrosse game on Friday afternoon.  Stacey Johnson (Southampton, NJ/Lenape) posted 4 goals for Wesley and also added 4 groundballs.  Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) and Beth Burke (Upperco, MD/North Carroll) had key contributions scoring 3 goals apiece. 

Burke posted 2 goals in 10 seconds to help Wesley out to an 11-9 lead with 16:45 remaining in the game.  Neumann would get no closer than 2 goals the rest of the way with Wesley going up 13-10 with 35 seconds remaining on a goal by Samantha Keller (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg).  Keller had 2 goals for Wesley in the win.

Lady Wolverines Drop Game to Kean, 13-5
(Tuesday, April 19th)
Union, NJ - Wesley College (6-7) traveled to non-conference opponent Kean University (8-5), falling by a final score of 13-5 on Tuesday night in women's lacrosse action.  Kean jumped out to a 5-0 lead, before Jeanette Panunto (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) put Wesley on the board.  The Lady Wolverines went into halftime down 7-1, with Kean adding 2 more goals to go up 9-1 early in the second half to put the game away.  Wesley scored 4 goals in the final 18 minutes of the contest.

Brittany Block (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) finished with 2 goals and 1 assist, while Kelsey Humphries (Manchester, MD/North Carroll), Samantha Keller (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) and Panunto added a goal apiece. 

Lady Wolverines Win Big over Rosemont, 18-1
(Monday, April 18th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (6-6, 6-3) defeated conference opponent Rosemont College (3-9, 3-7) by a final score of 18-1 in women's lacrosse action on Monday night.  Wesley was up 9-1 at the half and scored 9 more goals in the second half for the final tally.  After Rosemont jumped on top 1-0 with 27:22 remaining in the first half, the Lady Wolverines reeled off 9 unanswered goals to end the half.  Stacey Johnson (Southampton, NJ/Lenape), Kristin Stiller (Baltimore, MD/Our Lady of Mount Carmel), Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional), Julie Jones (Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's) and Brittany Block (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) all scored 2 goals apiece.  Lauren Garber (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) and Ann Valerio (Union, NJ/Mother Seton) had 1 goal apiece, while Roma added 5 groundballs in the win.

Lady Wolverines Out-Last Alvernia, 10-7
(Thursday, April 14th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (5-6, 5-3) defeated conference opponent Alvernia College (4-5, 3-3) by a final score of 10-7 in women's lacrosse action on Thursday night.  In a game that saw 4 ties and 2 lead changes, the Lady Wolverines jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.  Alvernia went on to score 3 unanswered goals to go ahead 3-2, before Jeanette Panunto (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) tied the score at 3 with 1:13 remaining in the half.  Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) scored with 16 seconds remaining to put Wesley up 4-3 going into halftime.  Photo: Stacey Johnson

Kristin Stiller (Baltimore, MD/Our Lady of Mount Carmel) scored 1 of her 2 goals early in the second half to put Wesley up 5-3.  Alvernia would then tie the score at 5-5 and again at 7-7, before the Lady Wolverines took the lead for good on a goal by Beth Burke (Upperco, MD/North Carroll) with 8:25 left in the game.  Burke finished the game with 2 goals, while Stacey Johnson (Southampton, NJ/Lenape), Kelsey Humphries (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) and Brittany Block (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) all had one goal apiece.  Stephanie Hartsoe (Newark, DE/Newark) made 19 saves in goal for Wesley.  Photo: Kelsey Humphries

(Monday, April 11th)
Radnor, PA - Wesley College (4-6, 4-3) had their 2-game winning streak snapped after a 14-4 setback to conference opponent Cabrini College (7-2, 6-1), on Monday afternoon in women's lacrosse action.  Samantha Keller (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg), Kelsey Humphries (Manchester, MD/North Carroll), Brittany Block (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) and Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) all had 1 goal apiece.

Stephanie Hartsoe (Newark, DE/Newark) posted 24 saves in goal for the Lady Wolverines.

Wesley Wins in Overtime, 7-6
(Saturday, April 9th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (4-5, 4-2) defeated conference opponent Arcadia University (2-6, 2-4) in overtime, by a final score of 7-6 on Saturday afternoon.  The win is Wesley's second straight.  The Lady Wolverines went into halftime up 4-3 and were tied 6-6 at the end of regulation, before Jeannette Panunto (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) scored the game-winner for Wesley in the overtime period.  Kelsey Humphries (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) had 2 goals and 1 assist, while Brittany Block (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) had 2 assists and 3 groundballs.

Wesley Attack Too Much for Mighty Macs
(Wednesday, April 6th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (3-5, 3-2) defeated Immaculata University (0-4, 0-4) in women's lacrosse action on Wednesday night, by a final score of 14-2.  Stacey Johnson (Southampton, NJ/Lenape), Melissa Bach (Manchester, MD/North Carroll), Kelsey Humphries (Manchester, MD/North Carroll), Sarah Blackowicz (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) and Brittany Block (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) all had 2 goals apiece.  Lauren Garber (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) had 7 groundballs, while Bach added 4 for the Lady Wolverines.  Wesley out-shot the Mighty Macs 39-11 and held a 38-6 advantage in groundballs.  Wesley went into halftime with a 7-1 lead.

(Monday, April 4th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (2-5, 2-2) hosted conference opponent Gwynedd-Mercy College (5-3, 4-1) on Monday night, falling to the Griffins by a final score of 13-3 in women's lacrosse action.  Stacey Johnson (Easthampton, NJ/Lenape), Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) and Samantha Keller (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) all had one goal apiece for Wesley.

Lady Wolverines Lose to Eastern
(Wednesday, March 30th)
St. David's, PA - Wesley College (2-4, 2-1) fell to conference foe Eastern University by a final score of 12-9 on Wednesday afternoon is women's lacrosse action.  Wesley was led by Samantha Keller (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) and Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) as they both posted 2 goals apiece.  Stacey Johnson (Easthampton, NJ/Lenape) added 2 assists.  Wesley had 18 shots on the day and goalkeeper Stephanie Hartsoe (Newark, DE/Newark) posted 19 saves in goal.

Lady Wolverines Drop Cedar Crest, 13-4
(Wednesday, March 23rd)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (2-3, 2-0) defeated conference opponent Cedar Crest College (2-3, 1-2) by a final score of 13-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Wolverine Stadium.  The Lady Wolverines jumped out to a 6-1 lead and never looked back, scoring 7 goals in the second half.  Wesley was led by Kelsey Humphries (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) and Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) as they both posted 3 goals apiece.  Beth Burke (Upperco, MD/North Carroll) added 2 goals in the effort.

Lady Wolverines Win Over Misericordia, 11-5
(Saturday, March 19th)
Dallas, PA - Wesley College (1-3, 1-0) defeated conference opponent College Misericordia (0-2, 0-1) by a final score of 11-5 in women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.  Stacey Johnson (Southampton, NJ/Lenape) posted 3 goals on the day, while adding 2 groundballs.  Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) added 2 goals.

Wesley Loses to Owls, 10-7
(Tuesday, March 15th)
Dover, DE - Wesley College (0-3) fell to non-conference opponent Bryn Mawr College (2-1) by a final score of 10-7, in women's lacrosse action on Tuesday night at Wolverine Stadium.  After falling behind 2-0 early in the first half, Wesley tied the score at 2-2 on a goal by Ginny Roma (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) with 14:07 remaining in the first half.  The Owls scored with :37 seconds left in the half on a goal by Millie Bond (Doylestown, PA/Lawrenceville) to go into intermission up 3-2.

Wesley tied the score at 3-3 on a goal by Kristin Stiller (Baltimore, MD/Our Lady of Mount Carmel) less than 3 minutes into the second half, but Wesley would get not get closer the rest of the way.  The Owls pushed their lead to as many as 3 goals and did not allow Wesley to get closer than 1 goal the rest of the game.  The Lady Wolverines were led by Roma's 3 goals and 1 assist, while Beth Burke (Upperco, MD/North Carroll) added 1 goal and 1 assist.

Wesley out-shot the Owls 20-15 in the game, while Bryn Mawr held a 45-28 advantage in groundballs.

Lady Wolverines Drop Non-Conference Tilt
(Saturday, March 5th)
Virginia Beach, VA - Wesley College (0-2) fell to non-conference foe Virginia Wesleyan College (2-0) by a final score of 12-5 on Saturday night in women's lacrosse action.  The Lady Wolverines were led by Stacey Johnson's (Southampton, NJ/Lenape) 3 goals, 1 assist and 6 groundballs.  Kristin Stiller (Baltimore, MD/Our Lady of Mount Carmel) added 1 goal and 2 groundballs, while Beth Burke (Upperco, MD/North Carroll) had 1 goal and 3 groundballs.
